Description

The course in the kitchen is a fun and interactive workshop, in which children explore the world of cuisine through sensory games and practical activities.
With the help of our instructor, they learn to get to know new flavors and ingredients, developing the bases for healthy nutrition. They also have the opportunity to learn to complete activities in the kitchen by themselves, in full autonomy, but also to collaborate and share the work space and tools with the parent and with others participants.
In fact, according to age this cycle of workshops is divided into two classes:

  • 2-4 years, accompanied by a parent,
  • 5-10+ years, who participate alone.

Each lesson focuses on a theme: an ingredient, a dish or the typical cuisine of a country, which still are encouraged to cook and taste. In this way children spontaneously exceed the 'defenses’ towards unknown foods and open up to new ingredients.
We start with preparing a recipe all together. The children thus begin to understand the importance of working in a group and preparing something in an environment of trust and total independence.
In the second part, a game linked to food takes place, to increase their knowledge and for develop the use of the 5 senses in the kitchen. And finally the cooked dish is tasted together.

Here are some examples of the activities proposed during the workshops in the kitchen 2-10+ years:

  • Discovery of a product: stories and information related to the theme of the meeting, to stimulate interest and involvement.
  • Sensory games: exploration of various ingredients through touch, smell and taste.
  • Mini laboratories: preparation of typical dishes, such as pizza and pasta.
  • Culinary challenges: group activities that encourage cooperation and creativity in the kitchen.

The activity in the kitchen thus becomes a stimulus for the autonomy of the child and a source of self -confidence.
