The Stivaletto collection of books in Italian for children at the OBA

Children read in the libraryWith great pride, Lo Stivaletto has been recognized as the project's reference partner for children's literature in Italian House of All Languages. The project was created to enrich the Oba collection – Public Library Amsterdam – through new collections of books in languages other than Dutch, including Italian.

Thanks to this beautiful partnership, a collection of 100 children's books in Italian curated by Lo Stivaletto is now available for loan at the OBA headquarters, located near the Central Station and the Nemo Museum, in:
OBA Oosterdok – Oosterdokskade 143, Amsterdam

The collection of titles – written exclusively by Italian authors – includes hardbacks, illustrated books, short stories, first readings and novels selected for age groups from 0 to 12 years.

The Huis van Alle Talen initiative is an opportunity to help children and young people discover that there are languages other than their own so that they feel like citizens of the world. At the same time it is an opportunity to enhance the mother tongue of children from other cultures, who sometimes have difficulty using it.

The mother tongue in particular is essential in the formation of the person, because it is the language of emotions, memories and narratives. And it is in fact the language with which an adult reading to a child is best able to transfer emotional and linguistic nuances.
